Cousin Kwan trip
I always look forward to visiting Cousin Kwan in Queensland.
We had great views of Sydney on takeoff.
This is Pete the Parrot who comes whenever he is hungry.
Moving a chicken house.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great because of a nearby cyclone. The first day we went crabbing in the small boat.
This wooden boat has had better days.
The next day we a few kilometers offshore in the bigger boat. We had good fishing and hooked about half a dozen good fish but lost them all, mostly to sharks.
In the last 3 trips to Queensland, I broke 2 rods.
Then we made a knife from a leaf spring. First cut it to size with a plasma cutter and weld on a steel rod as a handle.
Then a lot of pounding.
Quenching.
Here is the knife before annealing.
Annealed for 2x 2 hours at 200 degrees.
The knife is really hard and sharpened up very well.
It measured 285 g on my sharpness tester.
Went for a run in Brad’s (Kwan’s neighbour) boat.
