Visiting Farmer Rod (Massey Ferguson repair)

A farm tour and repairs to a forklift and Massey Ferguson tractor.

This is a video summarising the day.

Farm Tour

We first went for a tour of the farm in Rod’s buggy.

This is the Yass River.

Shorn sheep.

These ones are still waiting for a haircut.

Shearing shed.

Fixing the fence.

Other Interesting Stuff

One of his dogs was trying to train me.

Grinding wheel for sharpening axes.

Lawnmower collection.

Chainsaw collection.

2m antenna.

HF antennas.

Old radio room.

Lunch

Had lunch at the Gundaroo Inn.

Wagu beef burger.

Fixing Forklift

The first job was to repair this Ursus forklift, the linkage to the chain was broken so we fabricated a piece of steel as a substitute (actually Rod fabricated, I held the torch).

He should be able to get it on after the alternator on order gets here.

Massey Ferguson Fuel Separator

Spent a while looking for a plastic piece of the fuel separator that disappeared. Couldn’t find it so, as Rod puts it, we applied a country-boy fix. A piece of aluminium tube and washer was used as a substitute.

As you can see in the video at the start of this post, the fix worked fine.

Overall an excellent day and thanks to Rod for his hospitality.

Postscript 29/10/2024

Guess what, two days later, Rod found the piece under the one of the forks of the Ursus (a long way away).
